Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagdish Reddy on Tuesday said the TRS government had succeeded in chasing out hunger from the State by taking up a series of welfare schemes that improved the living conditions of the people.

Distributing new ration cards to the beneficiaries at his camp office in Suryapet, Jagdish Reddy said the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has been striving to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Telangana after achieving Statehood. “The welfare schemes taken up by the State government are aimed at benefiting all sections of the people. The initiatives of the State government have improved the living conditions of the people and also chased out hunger from the State,” he said, adding that Telangana topped the country in welfare and developmental programmes.

Stating that there was no scope for shortage of food in Telangana after the State zoomed to the top in paddy production in the country, he said the State government decided to issue new ration cards to all the eligible families in the State. In all, 26,000 new ration cards would be distributed to the selected families in erstwhile Nalgonda district (Nalgonda, Yadadri-Bhongir and Suryapet) by July 30, he added.
