Karimnagar: Collector and District Election Officer RV Karnan on Monday instructed counting staff to conduct counting of Huzurabad by-poll votes which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday without negligence. The Collector along with election general observer Muthu Krishnan Shankar Narayana and returning officer Ch Ravinder Reddy participated in the training programme for counting staff here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Karnan instructed the staff to conduct counting of votes without giving any scope for mistakes. Staff has to count slips of five VVPATs by selecting them through lots. Votes count of ballot units, control units and VVPATs should be equal. He instructed staff to check form 17c and added that all counting staff should report at the counting center at 6 am and start counting votes at 8 am at the tables allocated to them.
He also instructed the staff to start the counting process with the counting of postal ballots. Later, votes of ballot units and control units would be counted. Counting supervisors, counting assistants and counting observers should take up the counting in a perfect manner. It is the duty of micro observers to keenly observe the counting process, he said.
Advising the staff not to show any negligence, he asked the staff to behave respectfully with the agents of contestant candidates and explain to them about counting frequently. Staff should not take their own decisions during the time of counting and inform returning officer if they have any doubts.
Master trainer Rajender Reddy educated the staff about the counting process.
