Karimnagar: BJP candidate Eatala Rajender expressed doubts over possibility of replacing EVMs while being transported from the polling station to the counting centre in the Huzurabad bypolls. He alleged that the Karimnagar District Collector and Commissioner of Police failed to control illegal activities of the ruling party in Huzurabad constituency during the last six months.
Addressing the press conference in Huzurabad on Sunday, Rajender alleged that the ruling TRS had left no stone unturned to defeat him, but in vain. He stated that besides distributing money and liquor to voters, the TRS leaders tried to lure the polling staff by offering money and liquor parties. He said as all efforts have failed, the TRS has now colluded with the officials and trying to change EVMs.
He warned the officials who were cooperating with the TRS government, that they will not spared and complaints will be lodged against them with the officials concerned including Election Commission of India (ECI).
The former Minister alleged that the TRS had misused its power and transported money and liquor with the police security. It was not a good practice to win the polls by distributing money, he opined and added that the ruling party had tried to purchase self-respect with money.
Rajender alleged the ruling TRS had violated the model code of conduct by issuing a government order on Dalit Bandhu implementation after the release of notification for Huzurabad bypolls. He accused the TRS leadership of threatening the Dalit Bandhu beneficiaries and pensioners that they would lose their benefits unless TRS wins the bypolls. “Though we took up these issues with the Collector and CP, there was no response as both the officers acted in the support of the ruling party,” he claimed.
