Karimnagar: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has challenged the BJP to take Huzurabad bypoll as a referendum on seven years rule of both the BJP at the Centre and the TRS at the State levels.
“We will take the Huzurabad by-election as a referendum for the seven year rule of both the BJP-led Union government and the TRS government in Telangana. The BJP leaders should ask for votes from the public by explaining the enhancement of cooking gas, diesel and petrol prices and imposition of new farm laws. At the same time, TRS will seek votes by explaining the welfare and developmental taken up by the State government during the last seven years”, he said while addressing the media in Huzurabad on Saturday.
BJP candidate for Huzurabad bypolls Eatala Rajender was trying to derive political mileage by spreading false propaganda. The BJP leader was leveling baseless allegations that the State government was imposing Rs 291 tax on cooking gas and when challenged he failed to respond for a debate on the issue.
On the road accident at Uppal wherein an autorickshaw driver died, the Minister said Rajender and other BJP leaders by violating model code staged dharna on national highway alleging that Government whip and Chennur MLA Balka Suman’s vehicle carrying money and liquor hit the autorickshaw. However, it was established that the BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s follower Vishwanath Anand’s car was involved in the accident and this was confirmed on the CCTV footage.
While participating in an election campaign in Shambunipalli of Kamalapur mandal, Rajender alleged that fake cheques of interest free loans were given to women self-help groups and demanded to clear cheques by October 30. The Telangana government does not know about such wrong doings and false propaganda. Harish Rao informed that Rs 28.89 crore were deposited in the bank accounts of women groups in five mandals of the constituency.
While the Telangana government provided interest free loans to women groups before the festival, the Centre led by BJP increased the cooking gas price. Rajender was demeaning the self-respect of Huzurabad people by saying that TRS was distributing liquor, meat and Rs 20,000 to voters. The BJP leaders have to bow before Delhi leadership if the BJP candidate was elected. TRS would bow to the people of Huzurabad if TRS candidate won the polls, he said.
Out of frustration, Rajender was making indifferent comments. Talking about Rajender and BJP leadership, he informed that the former was unable to own the party. At the same time, BJP did not own Rajender. That was why Rajender was not raising the slogans of ‘Jai Bharat Mata-Jai Sri Ram’.
