Huzurabad MLA dares IPS association to prove charge, offers to quit politics
Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy has challenged the Telangana IPS Officers Association to substantiate its claim that he accused Karimnagar Police Commissioner Gaush Alam of promoting religious conversions. Denying the allegation, Reddy declared he would resign from politics if proven guilty.
Hyderabad: Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy on Saturday challenged the Telangana IPS Officers Association to prove its allegation that he had accused the Karimnagar police Commissioner Gaush Alam of promoting religious conversions, asserting that he never made such a statement.
In a video message released along with a written note, the MLA said there was no truth in the accusations levelled against him by the IPS association. He demanded that the association establish that he had indeed made the alleged remark.
“If it is proved that I said so, I will resign from my MLA post and permanently withdraw from politics,” he stated in the note.
However, he asserted that if the allegation could not be substantiated, the leaders of the IPS Officers Association should tender an apology, adding that he would move a privilege motion if the association failed to prove its charges.
The MLA’s statement comes amid a public row following the IPS association’s criticism over remarks allegedly attributed to Kaushik Reddy against Alam.
