Hyderabad: Three persons were arrested and 100 kg of ganja, which they were allegedly smuggling from Visakhapatnam to the city, was seized by the Rachakonda Police on Thursday.
The arrested persons were identified as Shaik Ismail of Visakhapatnam, Mankari Satish of Bagh Amberpet and Mankari Prakash of Goshamahal. One suspect, Arun Singh of Dhoolpet, is absconding.
According to the police, the three were sourcing the contraband from one Raju of Chinthapally hills in Visakhapatnam and supplying it to customers in the city.
“On Wednesday evening, Ismail brought the contraband in an auto-rickshaw from Visakhapatnam and informed Arun Singh who sent the other two to Uppal. They were shifting the consignment to a hideout when they were caught,” Rachakonda Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat said.
A case under the NDPS Act was registered and efforts are on to nab Arun Singh.
