A 17-year-old boy was allegedly beaten to death by unidentified assailants in Hyderabad's Kalapather area after being lured out by a phone call. Police registered a murder case, launched an investigation, and are examining CCTV footage to identify the suspects

Hyderabad: A 17-year-old boy was allegedly beaten to death by unidentified persons at Shah Tekri in the Kalapather area of the Old City on Saturday night.
According to the police, the victim, Mohammed Faiz, also known as Azaan, was a resident of Kalapather and lived with his family.
Preliminary investigation revealed that shortly after midnight, Faiz received a phone call from some persons and left his house to meet them.
He was allegedly attacked with sticks at Shah Tekri, sustaining severe head injuries. He died at the scene before help could arrive.
The Kalapather police reached the spot after being alerted, shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem examination, and registered a case.
The police said the motive behind the murder is yet to be known. Efforts are underway to identify and trace the suspects.
Police are examining CCTV footage from the area and collecting other evidence as part of the probe. Further investigation is in going on.
