Hyderabad: The city police booked 246 cases against persons involved in drug smuggling, sale, transportation and storage in the city in 2021. The police also arrested around 600 persons and PD Act was invoked against several persons involved in drug cases.
Anjani Kumar said the sale of drugs was limited to ganja in the city. “Ganja is being sourced from neighbouring States and sold in the city; there is no local cultivation here. In regard, to chemical drugs, there is no major detection of the drug and compared to other metros its consumption is very minimal here,” he said.
