Hyderabad: The LB Nagar police on Saturday nabbed a three-member Irani Gang involved in several attention diversion cases and recovered Rs 40,000 cash, a few US dollars and a car from their possession. The arrested were identified as Mohd Hussain (45), Vaheed Rajab (39), and Naseer Abhidi (40), all residents of Paramount Colony in Tolichowki and natives of Tehran in Iran. They were involved in cases in LB Nagar, Rajendranagar, Karkhana and Narsingi.
According to the police, the suspects would show US dollars to shop vendors or other unsuspecting persons and ask them for an exchange with Indian currency. “After gaining the victim’s confidence, they take Indian currency, divert their attention and steal money on the pretext of counting,” Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said. Following a few complaints, the police booked a case and with the help of technical evidence, nabbed them.
