Hyderabad: A woman on Thursday approached the Banjara Hills police alleging she was cheated and raped by a man who promised to marry her.
According to the police, the 38-year-old woman, a beautician, became friends with the suspect, Tamim Jalal alias Aqeel (28), about four years ago. They got close and he proposed to her. She accepted and they met on several occasions. He sexually exploited her after promising to marry her, she alleged.
Recently, when she asked him to marry her, Aqeel started avoiding her, and started to threaten her.
Based on the victim’s complaint, the Banjara Hills police booked a case of rape, criminal intimidation, cheating and other offences against the suspect. Efforts are on to arrest the suspect, who is absconding.
