Hyderabad: 60-year-old tree Banyan tree safely translocated from Rail Nilayam
A 60-year-old Banyan or Peepal Tree (Ficus Religiosa)at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad has been translocated safely by a team of experts, who were roped-in by the South Central Railway (SCR).

Hyderabad: A 60-year-old Banyan or Peepal Tree (Ficus Religiosa)at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad has been translocated safely by a team of experts, who were roped-in by the South Central Railway (SCR).
In the essential circumstances to take up a construction activity, the Peepal tree was identified for translocation. A meticulous plan was prepared to ensure the safe translocation of the tree without causing much disturbance to its roots, SCR on Monday in a press release said.
An expert in the field of translocation, A Chandramouli from Kurnool was called to execute the translocation process with care and precision. Specialists with modern equipment and conservation techniques were adopted to safeguard the root system carefully.
The tree’s growth in its new environment has been planned with the help of expert advice. The process in translocation of the tree at Rail Nilayam included cutting down of steams, providing pre and post treatment.
The new tree shoot will start growing in the next 3 to 6 months period as per the expert. Earlier too Chandramouli has successfully treated the famous Pillamarri the historic banyan located in Mahbubnagar, as part of his rejuvenation plans, SCR officials said.
SCR had undertaken a similar initiative in the year 2021, wherein three trees at Railway Coaching Depot in Kacheguda were successfully translocated with the help of tree re-plantation experts.
Arun Kumar Jain, SCR General Manager appreciated the Engineering Team for undertaking this noble cause to preserve the environment even amidst construction works.
