Hyderabad: Stating that Netflix and Hyderabad were gateways, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said both were “glocal”, global and local at the same time.
“When two great institutions with similar values join together, the result is success,” he said after formally launching the Netflix Eyeline facility here on Thursday.
Hyderabad was a natural home for Netflix, he said, adding that the platform wanted to entertain the world while the city aimed to enrich the world. Both Netflix and Hyderabad respected all cultures and welcomed people from every part of the world, the Chief Minister said.
From the Nizam’s era to becoming a globally vibrant city, Hyderabad had taken risks to shape the future. Similarly, Netflix had transformed itself from a DVD rental company into a global OTT leader and a media studio, he stated.
“I am sure with the coming of Netflix Eyeline facility here, we will see more content showcasing Telangana to global audiences,” Revanth Reddy said.
Referring to Netflix’s focus on sports, the Chief Minister said the company had recently been giving greater attention to sports content and would soon emerge as a major sports broadcasting company. Telangana was also focusing on sports by building sports infrastructure, establishing a Sports University and encouraging talent at all levels, he said.
Assuring all support to Netflix, Revanth Reddy said the programme was proof of India’s and Telangana’s growing role in shaping the future of global entertainment.
