Hyderabad: Opposing the hike in student bus pass fare in the city, ABVP staged a protest at Bus Bhavan on Wednesday. ABVP city secretary Prithvi Teja condemned the move by the Congress government and criticised the ongoing mismanagement of the current government — from a drastic reduction in the fleet of buses in the city to overcrowding caused by free bus scheme — which was affecting student safety.

ABVP workers through their dharna at Bus Bhavan and at various other locations across the city, made it clear they will continue to fight against the injustice faced by students.

Meanwhile, condemning the increased student bus pass fare by 50 per cent, leaders of AIDSO (All India Democratic Students’ Organisation) Telangana State committee, presented a memorandum to TGSRTC Executive Director Munishekar here on Wednesday.

In the memorandum, the AIDSO said rather than providing free bus pass to students, the RTC increased the fare by up to 50 per cent which was completely unfair. “TGSRTC can increase their profits through other alternative methods but it cannot hike bus pass fare for students which will affect the middle class and economically weaker sections of the State,” said the organisers of AIDSO State Committee, Rajashekar, Nithish, Vinod and Nagaraju. District leaders Praneeth, Vishali, Pranava, Nihitha and Karthik also were present.
