Hyderabad: The ACP Mahankali, S Saidaiah, who was allegedly facing corruption charges and involved in civil disputes was shifted out and attached to City Armed Reserve (CAR) headquarters by the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, VC Sajjanar, on Thursday.
The Hyderabad CP issued an order to this effect on Thursday and asked Gopalapuram ACP, P Subbaiah, to take the additional charge of Mahankali division until further orders. The DCP (North) was directed to relieve the ACP immediately while the DCP (CAR and training) was asked to report the date of joining of the ACP to the Hyderabad CP’s office.
The ACP, according to the sources, was demanding mamool from the sub inspectors working in his divisional jurisdiction and settling disputes after collecting huge money. He had also entrusted four people including his driver to collect mamool from business establishments.
There are also allegations that the ACP had collected huge amounts from the traders associations for various police programmes.
To facilitate the enquiry, the ACP was moved out from the post and attached to CAR headquarters by the Hyderabad CP.
“A detailed enquiry is underway to ascertain the facts. Based on the findings, follow-up action will be taken against the ACP,” said a senior official of Hyderabad police.
