Hyderabad: AIG Hospitals, Gachibowli on Thursday launched AIG Breast Health and Gynaecology Centre, a dedicated healthcare facility for women which will be managed by an all women team led by breast oncologist and an oncoplastic surgeon, Dr. Pragnya Chigurupati.

The new facility will be supported by a multidisciplinary team consisting of medical, surgical and radiation oncologists, gynecologists, physiotherapists and diet and nutrition experts.

“Breast cancer has overtaken cervical cancer as the most prevalent cancer among women in India today. We know that if detected early when the tumor is localized, the survival rate of breast cancer is close to 99 per cent,” said Dr. Raghu Ram Pillarisetti, noted surgeon and founder of Ushalakshmi Center for Breast Diseases, after inaugurating the facility.

Dr. D Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman, AIG Hospitals said that a dedicated all women centre will infuse a sense of comfort among the female population so that they can opt for regular screening, discuss breast health among other issues without inhibition.

As part of efforts to encourage women to self-diagnosis, the centre has launched #PinkSelfCheckChain initiative to encourage women to examine themselves for early signs of breast cancer and nominate three more to do the same.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the centre is offering a comprehensive breast screening package for Rs 2500 till March 31. For details: Visit aighospitals.com/pinkselfcheckchain.
