Hyderabad: From October 26 to November 1, the inaugural Hyderabad Art Week (HAW) brings together Dhi Contemporary, Kadari Art Gallery, Kalakriti Art Gallery and Srishti Art for a city-wide cultural initiative.
The event aims to link multiple generations of artists, institutions, students and collectors through exhibitions, gallery circuits, open studios, talks, interactive sessions and archival showcases.
HAW is the brainchild of four women gallerists, Bhargavi Gundala of Dhi Contemporary, Lakshmi Nambiar of Srishti Art, Rekha Lahoti of Kalakriti Art Gallery and Supraja Rao of Kadari Art Gallery.
The week allows each gallery to retain its own voice while contributing to a larger conversation about where contemporary art sits within Hyderabad today.
Dhi Contemporary will have a solo exhibition by Gayatri Danthuri; Kadari Art Gallery will exhibit ‘Worlds within Reach: Artists in Focus’, featuring young and emerging artists curated through an open call; Kalakriti Art Gallery showcases ‘I Know What I Am Doing ’, curated by PS Jalaja; while Srishti Art presents a solo exhibition by Alpana Vij titled ‘The Weight of Small Things’.
