Hyderabad: Attention diversion gang busted, three women arrested
The gang targeted an elderly woman at Madannapet and took away her gold chain weighing 2.6 tolas, say police

Hyderabad: Three women, who are members of an attention diversion gang that target women in public transport, were arrested by the Madannapet police on Saturday. The police recovered eight tolas of gold and Rs. 1 lakh cash from them.
The arrested are Munniyandi Ramya (27), Bhuneshwari (30), and Muthi Mari (30) while two of their associates Anjali and Parwathi are absconding.
According to the police, ten days ago, the gang targeted an elderly woman at Madannapet and took away her gold chain weighing 2.6 tolas.
On March 25, the victim was waiting at Phisalbanda bus stop to take a bus to Meerpet when three women suspects approached her. “After enquiring where she was going, the trio conned her into boarding a bus and managed to steal her gold chain from the neck and escaped,” said Madannapet Inspector, B Srinivas.
On a complaint, the police registered a case and tracked down the women. The police arrested them and recovered the property.
The suspects confessed to stealing property from people in Kanchanbagh, Saroornagar, and Madannapet in the last few months. Previously, they were arrested in similar cases and remanded.
