Hyderabad: As the saying goes that the only way one can live is to grow and the only way one can grow is if we grow. This is exactly what Rahul Kanuganti has adopted as his life motto.

In 2012, while pursuing his BTech in Mechanical Engineering from Hindustan University, he was inspired to explore space and that is how he built India’s first Mars Rover along with Mars Society USA and NASA. He pivoted again to explore entrepreneurship and enrolled himself at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and made a full 360-degree shift to explore his interest in the intelligent mobility platform.

That is how Flytta was born in 2017. The Hyderabad-based startup helps enterprises with their relocation needs and is incubated by Nasscom 10,000 Startups. It enables seamless employee and asset relocation with a one-stop solution driven by machine learning (ML) and Internet of Things (IoT). “If building the Mars Rover taught about the outer space and movement of objects in that zone, my experience at MIT taught me about entrepreneurship from a global perspective. So, after working for a few years, I decided to jump into the world of startups and the idea of Flytta came from my own experience,” says Rahul who moved to Hyderabad from Chennai for his job and found it extremely difficult to find a good service that can help him with this relocation needs.

He started researching about the relocation industry and found out that it is highly fragmented and while they started off as a consumer-centric platform, then eventually changed their focus to corporates in 2019. They completed about 2,500-plus relocations in 2019 and in August, the company went live with its enterprise platform. In the meanwhile, the company built physical hubs in 28 States and trained 200 professionals in asset packaging. “During the pandemic many companies were looking at moving the office assets to their employees’ homes and needed a reliable service. Our tech-enabled asset mobility uses IoT to track the movement of asset and this is embedded into the company’s transport management system,” he informs.

In addition, Flytta also launched a first-of-its-kind operating system (OS) for the transport industry wherein it helps the truck companies with the digitisation process. This OS will formalise the truck transportation industry which is otherwise highly unorganised. “I have personally interacted with the transporters to understand on-ground reality and travelled over 50,000 kms with them,” he says. Apart from working with 30-plus MNCs and nine Fortune 500 companies, the city startup has also worked with the armed forces. The company has about 40 employees, 200 teams in 25 States and eight city offices in different States.
