Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based precision farming advisory Samhita Crop Care Clinics has helped citrus farmers of Telangana increase their yields. Through its Samhita Citron App, the platform has provided individual monitoring system to citrus farmers, which in turn, has led them to increase their yield by 30 per cent.
The farming advisory platform says that a team of qualified agri-professionals monitor the crops and its latest Digital Tree Health Audit System (DTHAS) records, analyses and interprets citrus tree data with the help of its app. Individual trees are tagged and information in the form of text, image, audio, and video are entered into the app. The DTHAS gives information on different problems affecting the tree based on three categories – severely affected, moderately affected and slightly affected.
Earlier this year, under its pilot run in Telangana region, Samhitha focused on citrus growers who faced low crop yield and lifespan. Samhitha’s precision farming advisory enabled farmers to clock over 30 per cent higher yield year over year and identified over 52 on-field defects which happened after input cost reduction, driven by smart irrigation and continuous crop monitoring.
