Hyderabad: In one of the biggest burglary reported in recent times in the city, unidentified persons made away with Rs. 2 crore in cash and around 30 tolas of gold ornaments from a house at Pocharam in city suburbs on Sunday.
B Nagabhushan (75) who stayed along with his wife at the house located at Pocharam, went out on some work in the early hours of Sunday.
His wife, who woke up later in the morning, noticed the house was ransacked and the cash and gold ornaments missing from the cupboards. She alerted Nagabhushan, who returned home and informed the police about it.
A police team rushed to the spot and summoned a sniffer dog and clues team to assist in the investigation. The couple told the police that recently they had sold land in city suburbs and kept the cash in their house.
“Some persons who were aware of the fact that huge money was kept in the house might have planned the heist. A few suspects were taken into custody and investigation going on,” said ACP Malkajgiri, S Chakrapani.
The police formed special teams to identify the suspects and nab them. The Rachakonda Special Operations Teams are working alongside the local police on the case.
