Chennai: Though his heart was in Hyderabad where his mother Arifa Begum was recuperating for heart ailment, Mohammed Riyaz kept his mind and focus before emerging second in the second round of the MMSC fmsci Indian National Motorcycle Drag Racing Championship which concluded at the MMRT, here on Sunday.
Riding on Yamaha R1, Riyaz finished behind Hemanth Muddappa (Mantra Racing) from Bengaluru, who expectedly completed a double. Riyaz clocked 08.058 behind Muddappa, who won in 07.914s.
The Hyderabad rider revealed that he was uncertain whether he would take part in the race but his father Mohd Yousuf encouraged to travel to Chennai. “I was very confused and worried but my father told me to go and race.
