Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the BJP’s Kukatpally Assembly constituency office for a while on Friday afternoon when a group of party supporters vandalised the office by damaging window glass panes and tearing posters protesting the denial of a ticket for their leader K. Mahender.
Irate workers raised slogans against Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy and party Medchal district in-charge C Harish Reddy for refusing ticket to Mahender, who was working for the party for the last few years.
“How can the party deny a ticket to me and allot it to another candidate who came from another party recently?” Mahender asked. He claimed that he was a councillor earlier too and had contested the corporation election earlier as well. He accused Harish Reddy of conspiring against him to deny him a ticket.
The police pacified the supporters at the party office before dispersing them from the premises. A police picket was also posted to prevent any untoward incident.
