Hyderabad Black Hawks to hold Under-21 and open volleyball trials in Vijayawada

Hyderabad Black Hawks will conduct Under-21 and open volleyball trials in Vijayawada on August 6 to identify promising talent from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Selected Under-21 players will compete in the Guardians Trophy, while senior players will vie for places in the PVL squad.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Black Hawks will conduct two talent identification events for boys and men on August 6 at VR Siddhartha Engineering College, Indoor Stadium (Vijayawada).

The under-21 selection trials, commencing at 8:00 AM, and the Open trials for the franchise’s main Prime Volleyball League (PVL) team, commencing at 5:00 PM.

The two trials span both junior and senior levels of the sport, as Hyderabad Black Hawks continues to widen its scouting base across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Vijayawada was chosen as the venue for its strong volleyball talent pool and its central location for players travelling from across both states.

The U-21 trials, open to boys under 21, are being held in connection with the Guardians Trophy, the first edition of an invitational Under-21 volleyball tournament hosted by the Goa Guardians (Prime Volleyball League), to be held in Goa from August 14 to 16. Registration for the trials has already closed, with a strong response from young players across the region. Players selected on the day will undergo a training camp until August 12, after which they will travel to Goa to represent Hyderabad Black Hawks at the tournament, with the added opportunity to register for the PVL Auction.

Running later the same day, the Open Trials will give aspiring male players a direct shot at earning a place on the Hyderabad Black Hawks’ main PVL roster. Unlike the U-21 trials, this is open exclusively to established and experienced players from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana looking to break into, or return to, the professional circuit.

Ahead of PVL Season 5, Hyderabad Black Hawks is placing a deliberate emphasis on giving local talent from these two states a genuine shot at the main team — a conscious step towards building a squad that reflects and represents the region it plays for. Players participating in the Open Trials must register for the PVL Auction beforehand — this is mandatory and will be verified at the venue.

“Whether it’s a young athlete dreaming of their first big break or an experienced player aiming for the professional stage, both these trials open real doors. One trial, one court, could be the start of someone’s career,” said Abhishek Reddy Kankanala, Principal Owner, Hyderabad Black Hawks.
