Hyderabad: Telangana Real Estate Developers Association (TREDA) and Seva Bharthi conducted a blood donation camp in association with Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) at a residential gated community in Khajaguda.
Despite the lockdown, the blood donation camp received good response with volunteers and members of the community coming in large numbers to donate blood.
“The pandemic has resulted in a lesser number of people going out to donate blood and there’s a severe shortage in blood banks across the city. Thalassemia patients need blood transfusions every 3/5 weeks and blood is also needed for surgeries and accidents. That is why we took up this initiative where we went to donors’ doorsteps and enabled blood donations,” says Vijaya Sai Meka, executive vice president of TREDA.
Krishna Yedula, the secretary general of SCSC emphasized on the council’s activities pertaining to healthcare and said, “We have been organising such camps since the pandemic erupted last year and contributed over 10000 units of blood to various blood banks in the city.”
