Hyderabad: The police and municipal authorities have found the body of the man who drowned in an open nala at Manikonda on Saturday night.

The man was identified as Rajnikanth, (42) a software professional who works at Shadnagar and is a resident of Secretariat colony in Manikonda. The man was washed away after falling into an open drain in the colony at around 9 pm on Saturday night when it was raining heavily, police officials said.


After the incident, teams of the local municipality, police and the DRF teams of GHMC launched rescue efforts. Later, authorities lost hope to find him alive and intensified efforts to trace at least the body.

Finally after around 40 hours, the body was found near Neknampur tank, 3 kilometres away from the spot where the man had drowned. The family members of the man had identified the body.

The Narsingi police who had registered a case shifted the body to the OGH mortuary where a post-mortem examination will be conducted before handing over the body to the family members.
