Hyderabad braces for hot summer conditions as temperatures soar

With the ferocity of the season set to escalate across Telangana, weather forecasters even look at the possibility of a strong heatwave sweeping across the State in the next few days

Hyderabad: After a reprieve, that just lasted couple of days, Hyderabad appears heading towards severe hot summer conditions with day temperatures rising sharply.

With the ferocity of the season set to escalate across Telangana, weather forecasters even look at the possibility of a strong heatwave sweeping across the State in the next few days.


Weather forecaster from Hyderabad, T Balaji on X (formerly Twitter) issued a heatwave alert and said, “As I’ve been warning since long time, a strong heatwave will sweep across Telangana starting from tomorrow.”

His forecast looks at the hot conditions peaking this mid week and his alert add, “Peak is expected during March 13-18.”

While some of the districts including Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy and Yadadri are expected to experience a day temperature ranging between 39 degree Celsius to 41 degree Celsius, the conditions is likely to get worse in some others such Khammam, Warangal, Adilabad, Nirmal and Asifabad with the mercury shooting up to 41 degree Celsius and 43 degree Celsius.

In Hyderabad, the day time which comparatively cooler when compared to other parts of the State for last few days, has started to change with increased heat.

Several areas of the city on Wednesday, as per the data collated by Telangana Development Planning Society, had the mercury rising towards the 37 degree Celisus mark with Moosapet (36.7 degree Celsius), Kukatpally (36.6 degree Celsius) and Qutbullahpur (36.3 degree Celsius) leading the charts.

Some comparatively cooler spots in the city on Wednesday included Uppal (33 degree Celsius), Falaknuma (33.5 degree Celsius) and Amberpet (33.8 degree Celsius).

The Indian Meteorological Department-Hyderabad forecast for Hyderabad suggests a dry weather for the next 48 hours with maximum temperatures going up to 37 degree Celsius.

 

Highest temperatures in Hyderabad on Wednesday:

• Moosapet: 36.7 degree Celsius

• Yousufguda: 36.7 degree Celsius

• Kukatpally: 36.6 degree Celsius

• Saroornagar: 36.5 degree Celsius

• LB Nagar: 36.4 degree Celsius

 

Lowest temperatures in Hyderabad on Wednesday:

• Uppal: 33 degree Celsius

• Falaknuma: 33.5 degree Celsius

• Amberpet: 33.8 degree Celsius

• Khairatabad: 34 degree Celsius

• Begumpet: 34.2 degree Celsius
