Hyderabad: A 17-year-old engineering student drowned in a water-filled quarry pit while allegedly shooting Instagram reels with his friends in Jawahar Nagar on Friday evening.
The youth, identified as M. Sai Pranav, was a resident of Dammaiguda in Keesara mandal and a first-year BTech student at a private college in Cheeriyal.
According to the police, Pranav had gone to a quarry in the Malkaram area with six friends to take photographs and shoot reels. During the outing, he accidentally fell into the quarry and went missing.
The Jawahar Nagar police and personnel of the GHMC Disaster Response Force (DRF) launched a search operation and recovered his body on Saturday.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, the police registered a case and are investigating.
