Hyderabad: The Saroornagar police along with the Rachakonda Central Crime Station police arrested a burglar on charges of breaking into the Mee Seva center and stealing Rs.1.30 lakh here on Thursday.
A.Chakravarthy (32), a resident of Dilsukhnagar worked in a steel shop was involved in several burglaries in Suryapet district in Telangana and Guntur of Andhra Pradesh.
According to LB Nagar DCP Sunpreeth Singh, Chakravarthy, who is a high school dropout, was earlier involved in 20 cases in both Telugu states. In December 2019, he was arrested by the Old Guntur police and remanded in judicial custody. He was released from jail in May 2021.
He then came to Hyderabad and has been staying in P&T Colony, Saroornagar for the last six months and committed several offences. “He first did recce of the residential colonies and identified locked houses and broke into them,” the DCP said.
On Wednesday early hours, he broke into the Mee Seva center at P&T Colony crossroads and stole cash of Rs.1.3 lakh from the almirah. Based on a complaint from the Mee Seve center’s owner, the Saroornagar police booked a case and with the help of the surveillance cameras, identified the suspect.
He was arrested during a regular vehicle checking at Saroornagar on Thursday morning. Cash of Rs.1.10 lakh was recovered from him.
