Hyderabad: Taking advantage of a family being away from home, burglars broke into a locked house at Aushapur village in Ghatkesar and fled with gold ornaments, cash and clothes.
According to the police, Shankar Naik (51), a businessman from Aushapur, had gone with his family to Nagar Kurnool district on December 3, to campaign for his elder daughter Swarnalatha, who is contesting for the post of sarpanch at Balyalokya Thanda in Urkonda.
On Friday, locals noticed the house lock was broken and alerted the family. Shankar Naik and his family rushed back to Aushapur and found the house burgled.
Burglars reportedly decamped with around five tolas of gold ornaments, some cash and clothes.
The Ghatkesar police are investigating.
