Hyderabad: With Dasara vacation beginning, people were seen heading to their hometowns from the city from Saturday.
A rush of passengers at bus and railway stations in Hyderabad, travelling to their native places for the festival, is a common sight every year.
Major bus stations, including Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS), Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) and Secunderabad, witnessed people waiting to board buses to their hometowns.
Families with children and youngsters were also seen heading to Secunderabad, Nampally, Kacheguda and Lingampalli railway stations to board trains.
Passengers carried heavy luggage filled with clothes and gifts for family members, along with items for traditional Dasara celebrations.
Despite the crowds at stations towards the evening, the atmosphere was lively, with a sense of anticipation and excitement among travellers. Families, students and professionals were seen discussing their celebration plans, while children ran around eagerly waiting to reach their destinations.
Meanwhile, to meet the increased demand, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is operating special buses throughout the festival season. The state transporter has set up several pick-up points in Hyderabad. Passengers travelling out of the city can board these buses from MGBS, JBS, LB Nagar, Uppal, Aramghar, Santosh Nagar and KPHB.
The special buses will facilitate travel from Hyderabad and Secunderabad to various destinations within Telangana and in neighbouring states, including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
The South Central Railway (SCR) is also operating special trains to manage the rush during the Bathukamma and Dasara festivities.
With passenger numbers rising, security checks have been stepped up, while station authorities are managing crowds to ensure safety. Police and railway personnel are also present to handle the rush and guide passengers.
