Hyderabad ‘Cash Barish’ scam busted, four held in Cyberabad
Cyberabad Police arrested four men in Hyderabad for conducting a fake “Cash Barish” ritual and scamming victims. The gang collected money, drugged their targets, and escaped with cash; main conspirator Guru Kayyoom remains absconding.
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police arrested four members of a gang that cheated people by performing a fake ritual called “Cash Barish,” claiming it would multiply their money, on Monday.
Police teams have nabbed Mohd Irfan, Gugoloth Ravindhar, Kavira Sai Baba and Thakur Manohar Singh at Gandimaisamma on October 26.
Investigations revealed the gang would convince victims to take part in a “Barish Pooja,” collect their cash, and offer sweets or almond milk laced with intoxicants. Once the victims fell unconscious, the suspects fled with the money.
A case was reported at Gandimaisamma ‘X’ Road in Dundigal on October 21. Following a complaint, case was booked and the gang was traced and nabbed. Police seized Rs 8.5 lakh cash, a country-made weapon, and a knife from them.
The main conspirator, Abdul Kayyoom, who acted as the “Guru,” is currently absconding and efforts are on to nab him at the earliest.
