Hyderabad: Award of Presidents’ Colours is a matter of great honour and pride for the institution, said Maj Gen Harsh Chhibber, Commandant College of Defence Management (CDM) Secunderabad.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Maj Gen Chhibber said the Presidents’ Colours award, which will be presented by President Draupadi Murmu, is the highest honour for an armed forces establishment for its outstanding contributions and service to the nation.

“This recognition comes as a testament of the institution’s stellar legacy of shaping the strategic leadership and imparting higher defence management skills to senior military officers. The Colour presentation will mark a historic chapter in the evolution of CDM and cement its position as the foremost institution for professional military training,” he said.

The Commandant emphasised that CDM is future ready and poised to continue its legacy of excellence. With the growing importance of multi domain warfare, CDM’s curriculum is evolving to meet the demands of the next generation of military leaders, he said.

“The college is set to expand its partnerships with global defence institutions, and its faculty is actively engaged in research on new-age military strategies and technologies. It has also embarked upon promoting study of Ancient Indian Knowledge System through Forum of Indian Strategic Culture and Thoughts (FISCT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture to propagate Indian Strategic Culture,” he said.

Maj Gen Chhibber explained that CDM’s role in preparing military leaders for a dynamic and increasingly interconnected world is now more important than ever. “As our defence forces continue to adapt to the changing global security environment, the knowledge and expertise imparted at CDM will remain a key factor in ensuring India’s strategic advantage,” he said.

The CDM was established in 1970 with a singular purpose of addressing the emerging need for skilling senior military leaders not only in combat operations but also make them adept in the managerial and strategic planning aspects of modern warfare.
