Hyderabad: Two women chain snatchers targeted an elderly woman shopkeeper and fled with her gold ‘mangalsutra’ in Uppal on Saturday.
The suspects who covered their faces with scarfs approached Sandhya, who runs a bangle store in Vijayapuri Colony, posing as customers. On pretext of buying, they allegedly sprayed unknown substance on her face and snatched her chain weighing about four tolas and other items.
By the time she raised an alarm, the snatchers fled.
Based on a complaint, the Uppal police booked a case. They are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the offenders.
