According to the police, Javed Pasha and Shaista Parveen, who checked on the roads identifying children to be abducted, found the toddler playing on the roadside in Barkas and kidnapped her on their bike. The couple further sold the child for Rs 1.3 lakh to Parveen Banu, a resident of Uppal.
Based on her mother’s complaint, the Chandrayangutta police booked a case and identified the suspects with the help of surveillance cameras.
A police team went to the location and rescued the girl, even as Parveen Bhanu was trying to sell the child to a couple – Rajendra Prasad and Sunitha.
Further investigation revealed that Rajendra Prasad, who is an agent at a fertility center in Banjara Hills, and Sunitha Kumari, who runs a small first-aid clinic in Chilukanagar, were previously involved in a child trafficking case in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
