Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar urged citizens not to believe rumors or fake news being circulated on social media and said action would be taken against those who create and circulate rumors, misleading old videos or fake news.
The Commissioner earlier inspected the police check-posts at various spots including the Hussain Sagar in the Central Zone here on Thursday. “We are effectively implementing the second-day lockdown,” he said, adding that police personnel were on duty on the frontline to save the lives of the people.
There are currently no mass gatherings in the old city during the lockdown. No mass prayers are allowed during Ramzan and people have been urged to pray at home, he said, adding that 180 check-posts were set up in Hyderabad and 3,000 passes were issued so far.
“Many people are applying for a pass, even for small things. I want you to apply for a pass only if you think the pass is urgent,” he said, also asking people to be careful while shopping.
