Hyderabad: A special literary review programme on the works of prominent poet and writer Jimbo was held at Lamakaan on Thursday. Dr B Narsingrao organised the programme, while Dr Satyanarayana Dyavanapalli moderated the review.
Dr B Narsingrao said the literary review was organised with the intention of discussing extensively the distinctive contribution of Jimbo to Telugu literature, the social consciousness reflected in his writings and the influence of his life experiences on his works, besides introducing their special features to readers.
Dr Satyanarayana Dyavanapalli introduced Jimbo’s literary journey and spoke about his approximately 10 collections of short stories, 10 volumes of poetry and another book related to the Telugu language. While introducing Jimbo’s literature, he also referred to the ancient literary heritage of the erstwhile Karimnagar region, to which both Jimbo and he belong.
He explained the connection of works such as Brihatkatha, associated with the earliest tradition of storytelling in Telangana, and Gathasaptasati, belonging to the earliest poetic tradition, with the erstwhile Karimnagar region. He observed that, as a continuation of this ancient literary heritage, Jimbo, as a modern poet and writer from the same soil, had developed his own distinctive literary voice.
