Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar on Friday appreciated Additional DCP (South) Syed Rafeeq, ACP (Santoshnagar) SVN Shivarama Sharma and their investigation team for their efforts in ensuring life sentence to a man who raped and impregnated his minor stepdaughter.
The convicted man, aged 39 years, had drugged and raped the 14-year-old girl multiple times leading to her pregnancy and delivering a child. He also threatened to kill her if she revealed about the abuse to anyone and continued the sexual abuse for three years. The victim finally managed to tell her brother, who lodged a complaint at Kanchanbagh police station in March 2021.
A case was booked and the suspect was arrested. The chargesheet was filed before a local court in Nampally. The court conducted the trial and after finding him guilty, sentenced him to life imprisonment apart from imposing a fine of Rs 26,000 on Thursday. The team members were honored with mementos.
