Hyderabad: In yet another instance, a Nepali gang posing as domestic help allegedly drugged and robbed a doctor couple in a gated community at Kowkoor in Jawaharnagar on Tuesday night.
According to police, the victims – Dr Vijaya Lakshmi and her husband Dr Murali Mohan were staying in their house at Gulf Enclave when the robbery took place.
Two Nepalese men who had joined the household as domestic workers just about two weeks ago allegedly conspired with five others and carried out the crime.
The gang is said to have allegedly drugged the couple before tying their hands and legs. They then robbed around 60 tolas of gold, silver articles and Rs 30,000 in cash from the house. Before fleeing, the gang reportedly damaged the CCTV cameras installed at the residence to erase evidence.
The Jawaharnagar police visited the spot and collected evidence. They suspect the robbery was pre-planned, with the workers using their short-term employment to study the house and valuables.
A case has been registered and special teams have been formed to trace the absconding suspects. All nearby police stations and commuting places have been alerted.
