Hyderabad: A local court has convicted a man in a matrimonial harassment and unnatural offence case, sentencing him to five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposing a fine of Rs. 5,000.

The convict, Ram Biradar, is a tailor and a resident of Nandimuslaiguda.

According to the police, the case was registered following a complaint by Biradar’s wife, Latha Biradar, who alleged that she was subjected to continuous physical and mental abuse after their marriage. She further stated that during her pregnancy, Biradar intentionally assaulted her by beating her on the stomach. She also alleged that he repeatedly forced her into non-consensual unnatural sexual acts during their married life.

After registering the case, the Bahadurpura police filed a chargesheet in the court.

After the trial, the court found Biradar guilty and sentenced him to five years of rigorous imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000, with a default sentence of three months’ simple imprisonment in case of non-payment.
