Hyderabad: A local court in Cyberabad has issued orders to attach properties of a suspect involved in a cheating and criminal breach of trust case.
According to Mohd Habibullah Khan, Inspector, Gachibowli police station, the suspect in the case, an employee of a private company, misused his position and misappropriated a huge amount. “The suspect misappropriated funds amounting to several crores and transferred them to his friends and relatives. He had purchased several immovable properties in Visannapet mandal of NTR district in Andhra Pradesh with the money,” said the Inspector.
The police filed a petition before the AJCJ cum X Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate, Kukatpally, providing details of the properties and available evidence. The court passed orders attaching multiple properties allegedly acquired through proceeds of crime.
“A total of 14 acres of land in the villages of Kalagara, Visannapeta and Chandrupetla of Visannapeta mandal in NTR district were attached. The court directed the orders be communicated to the respective sub-registrar offices to ensure no transaction of the properties is done,” said Habibullah.
It is the first property attachment order under Section 107 of BNSS that empowers the police and courts to ensure that properties acquired through cheating, fraud and misappropriation are frozen, the Inspector explained.
