Hyderabad court sentences man to 10 years for sexual assault

Hyderabad: A local court on Tuesday convicted a man who had sexually assaulted a woman and sentenced him to a 10-year jail term. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.12,000 on him.
According to the police, the man, Bitla Venkat Sai (28), a resident of Mahendranagar, Chinthal in Jeedimetla, had sexually assaulted a woman in 2017 on the pretext of marriage. He later backed off from the promise, due to which the woman slipped into depression and attempted suicide by jumping from a building.
On a complaint, the Jeedimetla police registered a case and, after the trial, the court pronounced the judgment on Tuesday. Venkat Sai was shifted to Central Prison Cherlapally.
