Hyderabad court sentences man to 20 years in rape case

A Hyderabad court sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a 2018 rape and criminal intimidation case in Mailardevpally. The convict was also fined and the victim was awarded compensation of Rs 3 lakh

Hyderabad: A local court on Thursday sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a rape and criminal intimidation case involving a woman reported in Mailardevpally in 2018.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,100 on him.

The convict, identified as S Mahender of Mailardevpally, entered the victim’s house on the pretext of asking for food when she was alone, overpowered her and raped her. He further threatened to kill her if she disclosed it to anyone.


The court awarded compensation of Rs 3 lakh to the victim.
