Hyderabad: The Madhapur Special Operations Team with the help of the Rajasthan police arrested seven cricket bookies at Gachibowli here on Monday. They were caught while they were making transactions. Police seized Rs 65,000 from them.

The arrested persons were Ashok Kumar, Ganesh, Pankaj Seth, Surender, Shanthi Lal, B Purohith and Manoj, all residents of Rajasthan and Bihar.

Police said Ashok Kumar, the kingpin of the online cricket betting gang, was organizing the racket in Hyderabad with the main line access from Rajasthan. Similarly many sub lines were functioning from Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad.

The cash transactions were largely online payments, and in some cases, in cash as well, police said.
