Hyderabad: Hyderabad Ranji cricketer Mir Jaweed Ali announced his retirement from all formats of the game on Thursday.

“I would like to formally announce my retirement from all formats of cricket under the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA). It has been a matter of immense pride and honour to represent Hyderabad across various formats and age groups,” Jaweed said in a letter to the HCA.

Jaweed played six Ranji games between 2020 and 2022, four Vijay Hazare Trophy matches, besides three T20 games.

“I played my last Ranji Trophy match for Hyderabad against Tamil Nadu in the 2022 season.

I sincerely thank the HCA, my clubs, teammates, and coaches for their constant support and encouragement throughout my journey. I had the opportunity to represent several clubs in the HCA Leagues, including St Marks Boys Town, Cambridge XI, New Blues, Sporting XI, and Budding Star CC,” he said in the letter.

Some of Jaweed’s teammates include Md Siraj, Tanmay Agarwal, Tanmay Tyagarajan, Ravi Teja, Sumanth Kolla, and Rohit Rayudu. He was mentored by coaches N Arjun Yadav and Girish Dongre, and made a special mention of Adnan Bafana as his mentor right through his career.
