Hyderabad: It rained cash, literally, at an ATM centre at Yakutpura in the old city on Saturday night.

People who visited an ATM centre near Anmol Hotel, Moinbagh were surprised to notice that the machine was dispensing more cash than the amount they had keyed in the ATM machine.

Two people who are local residents had reportedly keyed in Rs. 3,000 and to their surprise the machine dispensed Rs. 4,000. When they cross checked the transaction history, they received an SMS of Rs. 3,000 debited from their account.

A few others who were present at the ATM centre tried their hands and to their astonishment found the machine was really dispensing more than that was actually being keyed in for withdrawal.

On hearing about it people started rushing to the ATM centre and withdrawing money. A man said that he had keyed in Rs. 1500 and the machine dispensed Rs. 1800.

A local resident, who witnessed the happenings, promptly informed the police who reached the place and dispersed the crowd. The police later downed the shutter of the ATM centre and locked it. The bank officials were also informed.

The bank officials told the police that the machine might have developed some technical issues and because of it an extra amount was being dispensed.

The police later posted a picket at the ATM centre to prevent the public from gathering at the place. The bank officials later arrived in the night and rectified the issue.
