Hyderabad Cybercrime cops nab 52 suspects across India in January

Hyderabad: Three kingpins were among the 52 suspects arrested by the Hyderabad Cybercrime Unit for their involvement in cybercrimes across the country during the month of January.
The dragnet spread across various states including Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Bihar. Seven teams of the cybercrime police conducted special operations which resulted in the arrest of 52 persons in 33 major cases.
“The arrested individuals are wanted in 576 cases across India and 74 cases from Telangana. They had duped victims to the tune of over Rs 88 crore,” said CV Anand, Hyderabad Police Commissioner.
According to the officials, of these cases, three pertained to trading fraud, four cases of digital fraud, six cases of investment fraud and two cases regarding data theft. Officials said cash of Rs 47.90 lakh and crypto currency worth Rs 40 lakh was recovered from the suspects. Additionally, over Rs 2 crore has been frozen in bank accounts.
The police urged the citizens if they encounter any suspicious activity to immediately report it on the cybercrime helpline at 1930 or visiting the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal at https://cybercrime.gov.in.
