Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cybercrime Police arrested 74 persons from across India in May for their involvement in various cybercrime cases.
During the same period, officials also registered 54 FIRs based on complaints received through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP).
A major highlight was ‘Operation Octopus 3.0’, which targeted a nationwide Ghost SIM racket used in cyber frauds, sextortion, digital arrest scams and financial crimes. The operation led to the arrest of 66 people, including SIM card holders, agents and suppliers from 13 States.
The Cybercrime Police also helped victims recover Rs 68.27 lakh in 25 cybercrime cases involving investment, trading, impersonation and other frauds.
Meanwhile, during cyber patrols, authorities identified and removed 251 social media profiles and 304 advertisements promoting illegal betting and fake investment schemes.
Officials requested citizens to remain alert and immediately report incidents through the 1930 helpline or the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
