Hyderabad: The State Legislative Assembly unanimously passed the Sri Konda Laxman Telangana State Horticultural University (Amendment) Bill, 2021, paving way for establishment of new horticultural polytechnic colleges in the State. Apart from the government horticultural polytechnic colleges, private colleges also will be permitted under the Horticultural University to offer diploma courses. The Forest College and Research Institute also will offer degree and diploma courses in horticulture.

The Assembly has also passed the Telangana Housing Board (Amendment) Bill, 2021 unanimously, to facilitate construction of houses for the poor and middle-class in the State. While the Andhra Pradesh Housing Board has been changed into Telangana State Housing Board, the new bill will allow the government to appoint all three Board members from Telangana State which were otherwise represented Telangana, Andhra and Rayalaseema regions in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.

The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research University (Amendment) Bill, 2021 was passed in the Assembly, enhancing the reservation for local students from 20 per cent to 25 per cent. The Bill will also enable the authorities to provide reservations in the enhanced seats for SC, ST, BC, physically challenged and women as per existing quota.

The Telangana Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2021, the Telangana State Prevention of Touting and Malpractices against Tourists and Travellers Bill, 2021, and the Telangana Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2021, also were passed by the Assembly.
