Hyderabad: Reportedly upset over her poor performance in exams, a third year engineering student died, allegedly by suicide, in her house at Balkampet in SR Nagar police limits late on Wednesday.
The victim, D. Shruthi (19), pursuing engineering from a private college in the city and staying with her parents and elder sister at Saibaba Nagar in Balkampet here, was reportedly depressed over her poor performance in exams, apart from health issues adding to her problems. She is suspected to have ended her life by hanging from the ceiling fan in her room when her family members went out.
When they returned, the door was latched from inside and they repeatedly knocked on it. With no response, they forcibly opened the door and found her hanging, police said, adding that no suicide note was found and that the family members told the police she had no other problems.
The SR Nagar police shifted the body to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy.
