Hyderabad: Diwali shopping rush triggers major traffic snarls
Monday evening rush hour saw traffic crawling around Khairatabad, Punjagutta, Masab Tank, Banjara Hills Road No. 1, and the Secretariat. Bumper-to-bumper congestion persisted on the Punjagutta–Khairatabad road until late evening, with ambulances also stuck in the gridlock across several stretches.
Hyderabad: Traffic snarls were witnessed in different areas of the city on Monday evening causing a lot of hardship to motorists. With just days remaining for the Diwali festival, markets across multiple locations in Hyderabad were brimming with shoppers, which had cascading impact on the traffic, especially in the Western parts of Hyderabad including Khajaguda, Gachibowli and Kukatpally up to Patancheru.
Rush hour traffic on Monday evening moved at a snail’s pace around Khairatabad, Punjagutta, Masab Tank, Banjara Hills Road. No 1 and Secretariat. Bumper to bumper traffic was also witnessed at the Punjagutta – Khairatabad road till late evening. Ambulances were also seen held-up in the traffic jam on several of the stretches.
On Jubilee Hills Road No 45, to Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge Road heavy traffic jam was witnessed on the stretch. The situation was no different at Khajaguda and Raidurgam road. The traffic police through their social media handles appealed to the public to cooperate with the traffic police personnel.
